History

Cambrian Insurance Brokers Limited was established in 1965 by William Ross to provide automobile, property and commercial insurance to the residents of Northern Ontario.

In 1992, Jim Smith, a 10-year veteran of the company, assumed ownership. Today, Cambrian Insurance has become one of the largest independent general insurance brokerages in Northern Ontario.  Our hands-on knowledge of the insurance and risk management industry allows us to develop and grow our client base, and continue to enhance the products and services we offer.

We are a customer-focused organization with strategic business divisions in personal and commercial lines.  In addition, our Cambrian Special Risks division provides niche commercial line products to our broker partners around the province.  Continuing our development in 2008, we now offer a wide variety of financial services.  As a result of the special attention we give to the needs and requirements of our clients, we have earned a reputation for professionalism, and established a base of customer referrals as a major source of new business.

Cambrian Insurance Brokers Limited is registered as a licensed insurance broker with the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO), which regulates the licensing, professional competence, ethical conduct, and insurance related financial obligations of all independent general insurance brokers in the province of Ontario.

At Cambrian, we take pride in providing the highest standard of service to our clients.  We have offices in Sudbury, Azilda, West Nipissing, North Bay, Cochrane and Kapuskasing.  In addition to our six full service offices, Cambrian Insurance has six affiliated locations in Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, South Porcupine, Timmins and Mississauga.
